Q. How do I get a copy of an accident report? A. Call the Police Records Section (760) 499-5101 and ask how to access police reports filed with the department or come to the Police Department Lobby and ask to speak with a Records Clerk.
Q. Who do I call about an abandoned vehicle on the street? A. Call the Police Department Business number (760) 499-5100 or the Traffic Section (760) 499-5125 and ask to speak with the Traffic Sergeant.
Q. Who do I call to report speeding vehicles in my neighborhoods? A. Call the Police Department Business number (760) 499-5100 and ask to speak with the Dispatchers. The Dispatcher will ask you information about the vehicle, color, make, noise. This information will be forwarded to the Field Units.
Q. Who do I call about crime prevention and neighborhood watch programs? A. Call the Community Service Officer of the Police Department at (760) 499-5107. Ask to speak with the program coordinator.
Q What can I do about harassing phone calls, (hang-ups, profane language, etc.)? A. Call the Police Department Business number (760) 499-5100 and ask to speak with a Field Officer. The Officer will ask you information related to the date and time of the call. Additionally, the Officer will provide you the procedure to obtain a phone trap through the local Phone Company.
Q. Who do I call about barking dogs and other loud noises in my neighborhood? A. Call the Police Department Business Number (760) 499-5100 and ask to speak with the Dispatcher. The Dispatcher will ask you if the animal is contained. The Dispatcher may obtain the information for a later investigation by an Animal Control Officer or may give the information to the Field Officer depending upon the amount of emergency traffic the Officers are handling at that time. The information the Dispatcher is requesting may be used by the Officer to contact you by phone.
Q. Where do I go to take care of a parking ticket? A. On the back side of the "Parking Citation" are instructions on handling a parking citation. You may also contact the Traffic Sergeant at (760) 499-5125. The Traffic Sergeant can advise you on how to take care of the citation.
Q. My car was towed - how do I get it back? A. Call the Police Department Business number (760) 499-5100 and ask to speak with a Records Clerk. You may also come into the lobby and speak with the front counter personnel. A stored vehicle may require that you pay the department an administration fee prior to the tow company releasing your vehicle.
Q. I have a warrant - how do I take care of it? A. Call the Police Department Business number (760) 499-5100 and ask to speak with a Police Officer. You may also call the Investigation Division (760) 499-5121 and ask to speak with an Investigator. Both of these Officers can best advise you on the ways to handle the warrant.
Q. I want to know the status of a report that I filed several weeks ago. What do I do? A. Call the Police Department Investigation Division (760) 499-5121 and ask to speak with the Case Agent assigned to your case. A report will usually be moved from the initial Officer that took the report to the Case Agent in Investigations within ten to fourteen days. The Case Agent can advise you on the steps that a report goes through.
